There is a saying, "You can never please everyone", and the older I get, the more I go by with this motto in my daily life. Trust me, I often remind myself of this when doing things with my two little Aces, because they never want to eat the same thing or they always want what the other has (even when they were given the exact same thing!). Welcome to the life of a stay at home mom of two little. So don't beat yourself up if someone didn't like what you made or create, there are billions of people out there in the world and I am sure one of these billions will like it. And if you really really want to make someone happy and they just don't like what they see, well then you've got one option - change it to how they like it. That's how a "customizable" business works.
The "Madison" has been a great hit in the store since it debut. It is the best seller among all of my designs in the shop and it is still going strong! A lot of people really love the design, love it so much that they ordered it for their precious little ones. But still, while it look lovely in my sample, it might not when it is "customized" with the little one's info. See how the the fonts used in it are all tall and skinny? Well it would look awesome with a name that is, like Madison, that is not too long but not too short. And that is just not the case with little Liv. |
Liv's mommy ordered this print from me when she was pregnant with little Liv's sister, hoping to get one for each of the girls. And when Mrs.V didn't return my email picking a final (I usually send out a few proofs for people to pick the one they like best) I knew something was wrong. So I emailed Mrs. V again and asked if she didn't like what she sees. She confessed that she didn't like that outcome of the print, because little Liv's name is so short with only three letters and she didn't like the other handwritten script-looking font in the middle but she really loves the layout, so I was determined to change things up to make her happy. Then after many emails and about 10 different samples later, she picked a winner!!!!
I am very happy about the outcome too. It feels nice and solid, don't you think?
Then a few months later little Hazel came and Mrs. V was so happy for what I did the last time she came back for a 2nd round and ordered a print for Hazel too. She wanted them to coordinate and match but not exactly the same so I took the elements of Liv's print and change them up in Hazel's and viola! Isn't it nice?

And here that are side by side of each other.
