This is ME.
My name is Gloria. I'm a wife and a mother to a sweet beautiful little girl. I'm also a daughter and the middle child of three sisters. I moved to Vancouver BC (Canada) from Hong Kong for university right after high school, felt in love with a friend of a friend, and everything else is history.
I've always love looking at beautiful things but never thought I would actually create anything beautiful! For the record, I sucked in art class growing up. Then while I was planning my weddings (I had two, one in Hong Kong and one in Vancouver), trying to save money and having a super hard time conveying my vision to anyone, I decided to take matters into my own hands and did everything. I mean EVERYTHING! Thanks to the intervention of Pinterest and the internet, I single-handedly put together my dream weddings and taught myself how to craft, design and create beautiful things. (Interested in seeing my weddings? You can find them here: wedding in Hong Kong featured on Simply Peachy, wedding reception in Vancouver featured on Style Me Pretty Canada, and also my photographer, Jamie's blog post here).
The story of LuvEssential
After my weddings, I was eager to put my creative self to use but I didn't know what I wanted to do. I initially wanted to make my fabric flower and sell them on Etsy but realized that it take so much time and effort to make a flower and with a new family, moving into a new house, and having a surprise wedding night baby (yes yes, my baby girl decided that she could wait no more and as soon as we were legit she came, on the night of our second wedding), I just could not make it happen. So I waited and thought hard and waited some more. Then one day while looking for decoration for my baby's room, I came upon some really lovely birth announcement prints on Pinterest and thought "hey! I know how to make these!" And so I did! My first announcement was my own baby's print, obviously, which is still hanging in the middle of her bedroom, then I made one for my friend who had her baby girl just two and a half months after I did. And that's how my little small business begins. Now I've developed well over 20 designs and collected over 800 fonts (yes it's crazy! 800! it always take a couple of seconds for my program to load because there are so many) and I'm planning to expand it to more than just birth print in the near future. Needless to say, thank you for stopping by to read all this about me and my shop, I hope you find something there that you like and inspire you too!
